There is a bunch of information regarding this issue in the article. Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can lessen or even prevent food waste becoming an environmental game changer?

I saw a documentary about this last year at FLEFF. I can't remember what it was called but it followed this Canadian couple who decided to live off of scavenged food for a month. The Ridiculous thing was how easy it was. They went behind some walmart-esque superstore and found a whole dumpster filled with perfectly good hummus. Apparently a lot of stores have strange policies where they'll throw out food that is within two weeks of its expiration date. In short, food stores are wasteful as hell.
